My name is Andre Council and I’m elated to have you. A little bit about the site. Meaningful Works was titled purposely with the implied objective of creating content, writings, and videos that have a distinct purpose of providing a unique and interesting perspective on how I view the world. I am an advocate for those less fortunate, a champion of diversity, and a soldier for the truth.
I’m a huge history buff and believe the past has an incredibly profound effect on our future. I hope for a better tomorrow and if we are to get there, it must occur collaboratively through enrichment, autonomy, and sense of empowerment that challenges the status quo.
My Secret to Happiness
Happiness is said to exist “when what you think, what you say, and what you do are all in perfect harmony.” Making a conscious effort to really be in tuned with all three is where the success starts. Let your positive thoughts lay the foundation for what you say, then allow your self-speech to further demonstrate through action the happiness we first proclaimed with our thoughts. Put this in practice and watch happiness reveal itself over and over again in your life.
In this short video, I connect the dots for readers and address the following questions:
- My inspiration for writing this book?
- Who I’m trying to reach and why?
- The incredible impact of Black Men on the Black Community?
- How an accurate and truthful education is the key to change?
- What should you do with obstacles?
- How should we respond to racism in America?
- How does the history of slavery impact our present-day circumstances?
My Latest Book...
Why do some succeed while others don’t? Are young Black men only victims of unfortunate circumstances that they simply inherit?
I was inspired to write this book because there are simply too many young men out there (including my former self) who must figure out life the hard way–by trial and error. What if these same young men were given a blueprint, a guide to help you get a great start in life?
In this book, I tackle just about every topic you can imagine a young man might encounter. What should you do if you’re stopped by the police? Why is education so important to your overall success in life? When should I start a family? How do I navigate life making sure I steer clear of the pitfalls? How do I start investing in the stock market?
What readers are saying...
“I read your book. I
think you made a very courageous decision to write this book. In spite of what you have encountered, I’m
proud of the man that you have become and that you can encourage other men
especially our kind that you can still strive and be successful.”
Barbara R.
“In a world where race is at the forefront but not at the
forefront of change, the author ensures we don’t make excuses for race but
don’t lose sight of the importance of accepting diverse perspectives. The book highlights the needs and struggles
of minorities and explains how to take advantage of the few, but distinct
opportunities that minorities have. The
optimism in the book is palpable and appreciated! The book wraps its arms around the black man,
which is needed. Buy the book and spread
some black boy joy!”
Shante Y.
“After reading your book, I’m definitely going to get my son
to read it. You’re saying the exact same
thing that I preach to him constantly.”

“Andre Council’s To My Son with Love is a book aimed to
inspire young African American men to strive to be the most impactful version
of themselves. The book itself
illustrates valuable life skills to encourage young African American men to
overcome the many adversities they will face in America. Although the book is aimed at young African
American men, anyone who reads the book can gain knowledge from the author in
the areas of mental health, finance, and self-awareness. I really enjoyed reading about the different
scenarios that motivated the author to share his story with the world.”

“Wow!! I love how
distinct the voice sounds throughout the book.
You can tell you’re having a conversation with the reader about
life. I really liked how you talked
about marriage and how the man must be the man of the house no matter who makes
the most money. I also liked how you
express the importance of not only what you want in life, but also making it
purposeful to choose what you don’t want—beautifully done. You also cover the importance of having a
strategy when it comes to finances. I
don’t know very much about investing or how the banking system works so that
was wonderful to learn. You also touched
on education but not to just say, education is important, you spell it out in
many ways why it is important, especially in our community. Last but not least, I love how you stressed
the importance of changing your mindset no matter what you may see around you
and not making excuses.”

“Profound, straight-forward advice to be shared. Riveting…each chapter has very sound
information and examples to follow. Great advice. Makes you recall, reflect,
and remember WCW.”
